15, 2009, from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM a box lunch and presentation entitled
"The Contractor-Uniformed Relationship in Forward Operations: Bringing the
Lessons Home" was hosted at Northrop Grumman Corporation, 17455 East
Exposition Drive, Aurora. The panel discussed the lessons learned from
the working relationship between uniformed personnel and contractors direct
from the front lines in the war on terror. Invited panel members
included LTC Glen Dickenson, Commander – 743rd Military Intelligence
Battalion and Jeff Parks, Berico Technologies. Mr. Parks served in 2008 and
early 2009 as the Officer in Charge for Signals Intelligence for CJTF 101 in
Afghanistan.

Skladanek, Director of Marketing, Lockheed Martin Commercial Launch Services
speaking on Lockheed Martin Space Systems with a tour of the Atlas final
assembly.
Thursday - March 19, 2009, 7:30 – 9:00 AM, Vicky Lea, Aviation and
Aerospace Industry Manager with the Metro Denver Economic Development
Corporation spoke on Developing Metro Denver’s Aerospace Workforce Pipeline.
Originally from the UK, Vicky has lived in Colorado since 2000. Prior to
joining the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, Vicky worked for
UK Trade and Investment at the British Consulate in Denver, helping Colorado
companies to expand their business operations into the UK, and assisting
British companies conduct business in Colorado.

- 9:00 AM, Benny Milliner, Community Liaison for Military and Veteran
Affairs for U.S. Senator Ken Salazar spoke on priorities for the new
Congress in Veteran and Military Affairs. Mr. Milliner has primary
responsibility for veteran and military issues, K-12 education, Department
of Labor and union issues. He has served in this position since January
2005. Mr. Milliner served 23 years in the United States Air Force,
retiring in 1993. He is a former member and vice president of the Denver
Public Schools Board of Education elected in 1997. He served as a
legislative analyst for seven years with the Denver City Council in District
11, during the building of Denver International Airport and the
redevelopment of the former Stapleton site.

Thursday, January 31, 2008 the Mile
High Chapter was pleased to host as Guest Speaker J. Triplett “Trip”
Mackintosh, Partner, Holland & Hart, LLP speaking on "ITAR Investigations:
Common and Costly Errors". The luncheon meeting was held at Embassy
Suites, 7525 East Hampden Avenue, Denver from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM.
Mr. Mackintosh enjoys a national reputation as an effective advocate in the
areas of export controls, trade sanctions, related compliance and white
collar defense. He has defended domestic and foreign corporations,
directors, and other personnel facing investigation under U.S. export
controls and trade sanctions, as well as federal laws affecting securities,
environmental controls, health care, money laundering, and Customs. Mr.
Mackintosh has led defense efforts and multi-jurisdictional criminal
investigations in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Since
1993, he has taught courses on white-collar criminal defense, federal
regulation of international business, and corporate compliance at the Sturm
College of Law, University of Denver. He also publishes and regularly speaks
on these subjects. He has received the highest AV rating by
Martindale-Hubbell.

to 1:00 PM Embassy Suites at 7525 East Hampden Avenue, Denver was the
location of a luncheon featuring guest speaker Lieutenant Colonel Laura
Potter, Battalion Commander for the 743rd Military Intelligence Battalion,
Buckley Air Force Base, Aurora CO speaking on “Intelligence Transformation
and the Global War on Terrorism”.
LTC Potter’s distinguished career began with
her graduation as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Dickinson College
and commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the Military Intelligence Corps
in 1989. She has served in a wider variety of military intelligence
positions around the world, including the 19th Support Command in Taegu,
Korea, the United Nations Observer Mission in the Republic of Georgia, and V
Corps, Heidelberg, Germany, during the planning for Operation Iraqi Freedom
(OIF). During OIF, she served as Deputy Commander, 205th Military
Intelligence Brigade in Balad and Baghdad, Iraq. LTC Potter has been
assigned to intelligence duties with the National Security Agency, and has
served as an Intelligence Planner and then as Executive Assistant to the
Joint Staff J2, Directorate for Intelligence, the Pentagon.
LTC Potter holds a Master's Degree in Russian
and East European Studies from Georgetown University. Her numerous awards
and decorations include the Bronze Star, the Defence Meritorious Service
Medal, numerous commendation and achievement medals, the United Nations
Medal, the Parachutist Badge, the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership
Award, the European Command's Forsman Award, and the Military Intelligence
Corps' Knowlton Award.
From 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 28, 2006
the Embassy Suites, 7525 East Hampden Ave., Denver was the site for a
Chapter Luncheon featuring guest speaker DANIELLE M. DOOLEY, Senior
International Trade Specialist and Deputy Aerospace & Defense Team Leader,
U.S. Commercial Service -- U.S. Department of Commerce speaking on
“International Markets for the Colorado Defense Industry”. Her talk
covered the role of the U.S. Commercial Service in supporting Colorado
businesses; lucrative international business opportunities for Colorado
businesses based on the latest market research and "in country" contacts;
upcoming U.S. Aerospace & Defense Trade Missions with Ministries of Defense
from foreign countries and NATO; and compliance with export control laws.
Of potential interest to NDIA Mile High Chapter members and
friends was a seminar entitled "Mastering the Basics of Defense Trade Controls"
held at the Red Rocks Conference Center, Morrison, Colorado on Wednesday, May 31st, 2006
from 8:00am - 5:00pm. This seminar provided a detailed introduction to the U.S. State
Department's International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Participants
were given training manuals as well as exercises and scenarios to work
through to enhance the learning experience.
The Great Northern Tavern (located at Belleview and Ulster, near I-25) was
the location of the Chapter luncheon, Tuesday, May 9, 2006 from 11:30 AM to
1:00 PM.
April 3, 2006 saw the Rockies beat the
Diamondbacks 3-2 in extra innings and the Mile High Chapter was there to
share in the excitement. Despite $30-$50 parking spots related to the RTD strike, 20 members and guests attended. As a result, we were able
to donate 25 tickets to help send children of active duty military people
from Buckley to the Military Appreciation Day Game on April 16th.
March 20, 2006 only the hardiest 40 souls
braved the snowy weather to hear Congressman Mark Udall, our 2nd
Congressional District Representative from Colorado, address the Chapter at
The DoubleTree Hotel
in Aurora. The Congressman addressed six key priorities including the need
for energy independence, creating a public health system which is
second-to-none, transforming the military, robustly investing in research
and development, upgrading the educational system (K-12 and university), as
well as creating a new diplomacy effort, people-to-people.
After his presentation he welcomed questions and comments from the audience.

Vice Admiral David E.
Frost (retired) was our luncheon speaker, addressing a group of nearly 40 at
The DoubleTree Hotel in Aurora. He is President of Frost & Associates,
a private consulting firm in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His final military
assignment was Deputy Commander, United States Space Command and Vice
Commander, NORAD. His topic of discussion was Ballistic Missile
Defense.

COL Lawrence “Larry” Lentz, Chief, Integrated Air and Missile Defense, U.S.
Army Space and Missile Defense Command-Colorado Springs (SMDC-CS), Peterson
Air Force Base, CO addressed the Chapter. The Franciscan Event Center served
as the site of this informative meeting.
November 10, 2004 General Lance W. Lord, Commander,
Air Force Space Command, Peterson Air Force Base was the featured speaker at
the joint meeting of the NDIA Mile High Chapter, Air Force Association Mile
High Chapter, and the Aurora Chamber of Commerce- Defense Council.
Eighty-one members and guests shared a delicious meal at the Franciscan
Event Center in Englewood and listened as the General shared his message of
space developments and the partnerships with industry that make those
developments happen. Many thanks to all the friends and sponsors that made
the event such a success.
October 28, 2004 Capt. Jeffrey S Ashby (USN
Retired), NASA Astronaut and NASA/USAF Liaison (Colorado Springs, CO) joined
us for a joint meeting and breakfast with the Aurora Chamber of Commerce
Defense Council at the DIA Marriott. Well attended by members of both
organizations, a delicious meal started the day off right, while fabulous
pictures from space and informative command reports made for a purposeful
meeting.
September 21, 2004 Lt. Gov. Jane Bergman Norton -
Our largest attendance at a luncheon meeting thus far greeted the Lt. Gov.
and all present enjoyed an engaging discussion of the opportunities
available to the NDIA community within the state. A delicious lunch was
punctuated by the opportunity to meet and speak with the Lt. Gov. on this
fine fall day.
September 7, 2004 Rockies Ball Game - 7:05 saw the
Rockies defending their home turf against the San Francisco Giants with a
good showing of members from the Chapter to root them on. Who says
having a team that isn't a pennant contender is a bad thing? Tickets
were cheap, so was parking and the seats gave us a great view as Barry Bonds
hit 698.
August 25, 2004 Meet Congressman Jim Langevin (RI-2nd) - Congressman Langevin is a member of the Committee on
Armed Services and the Select Committee on Homeland Security. He was
hosted by Circadence.
August 16, 2004 Scholarship Golf Tournament - Green
Valley Ranch Club - Prizes were awarded for 1st and 2nd place teams as well
as longest drive and closest to the pin. Proceeds will be donated
toward a scholarship, yet to be defined.
July 14, 2004 Happy Hour - Zang's Brewery patio was
the perfect spot for Mexican food and adult beverages on this warm summer
evening. Several newcomers joined some familiar faces for another
can't-miss networking opportunity.
June 16, 2004 Happy Hour - YiaYia's at the DTC was
the site of our happy hour. Even the rain didn't stop the most interested
from networking with members and non-members alike.
May 12, 2004 Luncheon Meeting - Harley Rinerson, Chief Information Security
Officer for the State of Colorado and the Chief Information Officer for the
State of Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs presented to
the membership.

Season Opener - Despite the recent snowfall this event inspired members and
their guests to fight the downtown Denver parking scene and get together to
watch the Rockies play the Arizona Diamondbacks.
